This story about the new Broward County, Florida courthouse opening being delayed because of a toxic mold problem is proof that new construction projects can be plagued with mold. The ironic twist to this story is that the old courthouse was abandoned four years ago due to a mold infestation that resulted in serious health issues for many Broward County employees.

Everything that the Walt Disney company builds is not the happiest place on earth. For example, residents who live in the Disney themed condominium community in Celebration, Florida have been suffering from leaky roofs, boarded windows, blue tarps, water damage and worst of all, toxic mold spreading within their walls.

ABC 8 News is reporting the the William Fox Elementary School in Richmond, Virginia has been temporarily shut down due to a toxic mold problem. School officials claim the mold is confined to the school’s basement where students eat, take art, and music classes.
“They had found sufficient mold counts to require remediation to close the building and wash down all the surfaces. They’re removing the insulation around the pipes where the mold is forming,” said Librarian Faithe Norrell. (more…)

CBS 6 News is reporting that several teachers believe a mold problem in their classrooms is causing asthma-like symptoms and lung infections. Richmond Public Schools confirmed six different types of mold was found in the basement of Fox Elementary School in the Fan District.
