Many molds (fungi) are parasitic to humans. What this means is that they live off our nutrients and they love the exact same nutrients that we do. This is why people who have fungal infections are often deficient in one or more key vitamins and minerals.

Some of these nutrients that I would like to talk about today are proteins. I have found through the course of my research that toxic molds love to interfere and block all the most important nutrients and processes in the human body like it does with our protein uptake.

It is important that you understand this because protein plays a very important role in our bodies. So much so that if you are not getting adequate amounts of the right proteins, your body will become very weak, your cells will start to break down, and you will become ill and diseased if you do not correct this imbalance.

Protein is one of the three nutrients found in food that the body requires in large amounts. Along with carbohydrates and fat, protein is essential for the human body. Proteins are made up of hundreds or thousands of smaller units called amino acids, which are attached to one another in long chains. There are 20 different types of amino acids that can be combined to make a protein Proteins are large, complex molecules that play many critical roles in the body.

They do most of the work in cells and are required for the production of Immunoglobulin G (IgG) which help make antibodies which bind to specific foreign particles, such as molds, viruses and bacteria, to help protect the body. Protein is our natural growth hormone that transmit signals to coordinate biological processes between different cells, tissues, and organs.

Unfortunately, once a person is infected with mold (fungus), they have the ability to attach to our cell walls and incorporate into our RNA and/or DNA thus blocking protein synthesis or DNA synthesis. This is one of the main reasons why many people who have systematic fungal infections (mycosis) have muscle weakness, experience muscle wasting and lose a lot of weight.

Synthesis is the act of combining elements to form something new. What this means is that once we have are infected internally, these pathogenic molds have the ability to tweak our normal processes that we use to function properly. One of the ways it does is by blocking the synthesis of various nutrients such as our amino acids to make proteins which synthesize to create natural growth hormones, build muscle, repair or cells and organs.

Toxic mold blocks this process of protein synthesis or DNA synthesis. The reason is simple. The weaker you are physically, the faster and easier it can break down the rest of your body (decompose).

Multiple animal studies have proven that animals that were exposed to the mycotoxin produced by aspergillus, aflatoxin B1 produced cellular damage caused by oxidative stress and multiple cellular changes including deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) fragmentation and lipid peroxidation. Aspergillus is one of the most common molds found indoors and the cause of many fungal infections in humans.

This happens a lot in children who have fungal infections. I witnessed this with my own son Micah when we was very sick from toxic mold. His muscles, joints and body ached all the time. It got so bad that he could not walk and he was losing weight rapidly. My poor son was literally wasting away right in front of my eyes and not one of the dozen doctors the we consulted with could give us any answers or help my son.

That is why I took the power back into my own hands instead of relying on other people for our family’s health.  Once I did this, our family’s health and especially my son began to improve rapidly. Knowledge equals power and that is why I’m sharing this knowledge with you.

These molds are also very crafty at invading and shutting off our immune systems. For example, one of the vital nutrients that is already present in our bodies that we use to detox our bodies is glutathione. Researchers have found that many people who have been exposed to water-damaged buildings toxic mold illness, and or many other debilitating diseases, also suffer from a deficiency of glutathione in their cells.

A 2013 study by Dr. Janette Hope, the former president of the American Academy of Environmental Medicine, details also how glutathione deficiency is frequently seen by clinicians treating patients with a mold mycotoxins illness from being exposed to water-damaged buildings, and how it can have far-reaching effects on the body. A 2014 study, Deficient glutathione in the pathophysiology of mycotoxin-related illness, had found that mycotoxin-related deficiency of glutathione may lead to both acute and chronic illnesses.(1)

Now that you know that toxic molds will interfere with protein synthesis or DNA synthesis and also your natural glutathione levels, it makes perfect sense to supplement with protein in order to help fill the deficiencies in your body and also to help create natural growth hormones, in order to prevent muscle wasting (atrophy), preserve muscle function, and repair your cells and organs.

Why you should consider supplementing with whey protein.

One of the best supplements that I have found to help fight mold toxicity is whey protein that is from grass fed cows and is GMO and hormone free. My family started taking it about 2 months ago and I have noticed a big difference in our health and strength. Supplementing with whey protein is a great way to prevent muscle wasting (atrophy) and repair your cells and organs. It also has antifungal, antibacterial and anticancer (tumor) properties. In addition, whey protein helps your body make glutathione.

Now that is one powerful supplement! This is also backed by science so please don’t just take my word for it.

The same study mentioned above by Dr. Hope shows how multiple animal studies have tested the effect of nutritional supplementation to counteract effects of cellular damage caused by oxidative stress and mycotoxins. Dr. Hope had said, “A study of rats exposed to aflatoxin B1 found that multiple cellular changes including deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) fragmentation and lipid peroxidation which resulted from aflatoxin could be restored towards normal with the use of whey protein concentrate, Korean ginseng, or a combination of whey protein concentrate and Korean ginseng, although they did not fully reverse the effects of aflatoxins.

It was suggested by the authors that genotoxicity from aflatoxin can be prevented by supplementation of whey protein, Korean ginseng or their combination. Whey protein supplies cysteine, the rate limiting step in glutathione synthesis. Animal experiments showed that the concentrates of whey proteins exhibit anticarcinogenesis and anticancer activity through their effect on increasing GSH concentration in relevant tissues and may have antitumor effects.”

Dr. Hope concluded, “Whey protein is used routinely for treatment of illness resulting from exposure to mold and mycotoxins both as a glutathione precursor and as an easily absorbed protein source for patients, many of whom have developed significant gastrointestinal symptoms as a result of their exposure.”

A 2007 study had shown that immunoglobulins, lactoperoxidase, lactoferrin, lysosyme and small peptides present in whey have antimicrobial activities against several pathogenic microorganisms, such activities have not been investigated so far for the lipid fraction of whey. Researchers found that free fatty acids derived from whey cream, namely lauric acid, myristoleic acid, palmitoleic acid, linoleic acid and arachidonic acid, can specifically inhibit C. albicans germination.

Whey also inhibited growth of Aspergillus, a type of mold that causes respiratory infections. Active antifungal fatty acids in whey include capric acid, laruoleic acid myristoleic acid and gamma-linolenic acid, also known as GLA. Researchers noted that GLA demonstrated the most potent antifungal effects.(2)

A study published in the January 2011 issue of the “International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents,” discovered the antifungal effects in short protein molecules, known as lactoferrin-like peptides, present in whey protein. The peptides inhibited some species of Candida, including Candida albicans, but not others, in the test-tube study. Researchers concluded that antifungal effects of the peptides show potential as antifungal agents in the treatment of most types of Candida.

Mold Safe Solutions Conclusion

Our family added grass fed whey protein to our diets about two months ago and we could not be happier. We drink it sometimes once or twice a day and skip a day here and there. I either mix it with organic hemp milk or organic grass fed milk and throw in an organic banana or other fruit.

My kids love it and my wife and I love it as well. It seems to fill the gaps in nutrition that we were missing. We are all very active and I like to work out at the gym with strength training and cardio. It helps a lot in my recovery.

I have noticed a difference in my children since we started suplemmenting with whey as well. They seem to be much stronger, have more energy and the color of their skin has improved. Even old scars on their skin that would not heal for years seem to be disappearing. It is repairing their cells and aiding in protein syntthesis just like the studies above said it would.

I highly recommend that if you and or your family are having issues with your stomach, nutritional deficiencies and you are expereincing weakness and muscle wasting that you consider supplementing your diet with some good grass fed and hormone free and GMO free whey protein
